Erasmus+ project meeting Palermo, ITA (Innovative Citizens), 02/2019

Užili jsme si i místní pláž a moře!

After a presentation of the Astronomic Park we went to Cefalú, which is a popular tourist resort on Sicily‘s northern coast, beside the Tyrrhenian Sea, with a sandy beach and an appealing old town. There we had a little trip around the city – we saw the old historic centre, including the amazing Norman cathedral. After sightseeing we were welcome by Major of Cefalú. After that we were invited for lunch at Cefalú School. In the evening everybody went back home with their host families. The next day in the morning we visited the Botanical garden in Palermo, which is one of the largest in Europe. We were allowed to taste fresh citrus fruits such as mandarins and pomelos. There were lots of huge and very old trees. After that we had lunch in a typical bar with Sicilian cuisine. The second part of the trip was a visit to Royal Natural Park “Favorita”, where we were accompanied by the local police on horses. In this park there was an incredible Chinese palace, which we visited at the end of our tour. When we arrived at school, international student groups started to work in the computer lab and teachers had a project meeting. In evening students went back home with their host families and all teachers were invited for dinner to a delicious seafood restaurant.

On Thursday everyone met at Piazza Politeama in the historic centre of Palermo where we visited the magnificent cathedral. We had a  possibility to go up to the roof of the cathedral to enjoy the view of all Palermo. Then we were hosted by the Major of Palermo at the  town hall. In the afternoon we went to school by local bus and students from each country presented their environmental sites of their country from the point of view of young people. After presentations we enjoyed typical Sicilian dinner with families, students and all teachers. Last day of project meeting, we went to the historical city of Monreale, which is a picturesque place most famous for the fine mosaics in the town‘s great Norman cathedral. Before noon we went back to school for lunch and after that we were walking to the beach and we were enjoying nice weather. In the evening the closing ceremony took part with the consuls of all participating countries and representatives of local authorities. In conclusion the final dinner was a perfect opportunity to share this important and significant experience of project meeting in Palermo. See ya in April in Konstanz!
